The GEPLEX Leadership Development Training Program (GLD) is a transformative initiative aimed at nurturing Africa's next generation of leaders. The program is designed to help participants uncover and build on their leadership styles, strengths, and potential. With a strong focus on self-discovery, self-leadership, and transformational leadership qualities, the program equips young leaders with the tools and mindset necessary to drive impactful change. Participants will explore what it means to lead ethically, inclusively, and innovatively within their communities, empowering them to become visionary leaders who inspire and uplift others.
The GLD program is tailored for young leaders, aged 18-35, who are passionate about community engagement, social impact, and professional growth. This includes emerging leaders in youth organizations, university students, recent graduates, aspiring entrepreneurs, community organizers, and early-career professionals who demonstrate a commitment to leadership and social change.
Facilitated sessions will focus on understanding leadership theory, discovering personal strengths, and exploring leadership styles through group activities, discussions, and practical exercises. These workshops create a collaborative learning environment, encouraging peer-to-peer knowledge sharing and relationship-building among participants.
Participants will engage in simulations that reflect real-world leadership challenges, enabling them to practice effective decision-making, conflict resolution, and team management. This approach reinforces practical leadership skills by simulating scenarios that require participants to exercise judgment and adaptability.
Mentorship sessions provide participants with the opportunity to learn from experienced leaders in various fields, gaining insights into effective leadership practices, overcoming obstacles, and career development strategies. Mentors guide participants through personal and professional growth by sharing experiences and offering practical advice.
Self-reflection exercises and journaling will encourage participants to document their leadership journeys, assess their progress, and set personal development goals. This helps participants internalize the concepts learned and apply them to their unique contexts.
Participants will complete leadership assessments to better understand their strengths, areas for growth, and personal leadership styles. This is followed by one-on-one feedback sessions with program facilitators, allowing each participant to develop an individualized action plan for continued leadership development.
