The GEPLEX Youth Foundation is dedicated to empowering the youth of Africa through innovative programs designed to cultivate leadership, entrepreneurship, and community engagement. Problem Statement
Nigeria faces significant challenges in youth unemployment, low entrepreneurship levels, and a lack of digital skills. Youth unemployment and underemployment continue to hinder economic growth and exacerbate poverty, with around 7.2% of young people aged 15-24 unemployed as of 2023. Additionally, the NEET (Not in Employment, Education, or Training) rate for Nigerian youth stands at approximately 13.8%—a substantial portion of young Nigerians disengaged from productive activities. These factors contribute to a cycle of poverty and limited upward mobility for youth, impeding national growth and stability.
In addition to employment issues, Nigeria faces a digital divide that affects access to educational and professional opportunities, especially in rural areas. For instance, digital literacy is vital for 21st-century skills, yet access remains uneven, with urban areas having far greater technological resources than rural ones.
This lack of digital competence can limit academic achievement and employability, as more sectors adopt technology-driven practices. It's on this premise that the GEPLEX Youth Foundation is set to proffer solutions to these debilitating problems with her innovative programs.
